home Painting
Painting the interior of your house makes it look fresh, clean, and updated. Those words spell out increased value for your home. A gallon of paint costs around twenty-five dollars and that leaves plenty of money to buy painters tape, drop cloths, paint brushes, and rollers. Remember when choosing paint colors that neutral colors often appeal to majority of people and this makes your house more desirable. From a home buyer’s perspective going into a home with dark walls makes the room look smaller whereas going into a room painted with a light neutral color really opens up the room and makes it look much bigger than it technically is. This is called perceived square footage. Also, going into a home with neon painted walls isn’t very attractive; painting walls lighter more neutral colors really opens your home up to a bigger market and has in some cases made houses sell faster. It helps the house sell fast because not only is the perceived square footage increased but it is likely that a home buyer won’t have to repaint the space. Giving rooms a fresh coat of paint also increases our home’s value by making look fresh and new! |

Whenever picking out paint remember that the finish of the paint makes a big difference. Some of the choices include gloss, satin, matte, and eggshell. For example: Using a gloss finish for high traffic areas will withstand touching and lots of activity it can also be cleaned easier but; if you have patched areas or imperfections in your walls think about using a matte finish paint. Matte finish paint makes the imperfections in your walls less pronounced but does not hold up as well in high traffic areas. Remember to try Samples first! It is difficult to know how a color will look on a large area. Instead of spending big bucks on full gallons of paint and finding out later that it does not look good on the walls spend a fraction of the cost on a sample and try it out beforehand. After you decide on the color and go buy multiple gallons be sure to buy a resalable bucket at the Home Center. The resalable bucket is for a technique called boxing you take the multiple gallons of paint (of the same color) and pour them all into the bucket and stir. This keeps of the paint a uniform color just in case the individual gallons were mixed differently at the Home Center.
